S.E. GA. WOODWORKERS’ GUILD
Meeting Minutes—MARCH 14 , 2009

Our regular monthly business meeting was held at the shop of Mike Hanna at 12:00pm.  President Mike Hanna opened the meeting at 12:08pm.; 6 members attending (Mike Hanna, Amanda Hanna, Gary Fleenor, John McGee, Allen Kuhl, and Phil Morgan).

Opening/Old Business/Updates:
1.  The “Pledge of Allegiance” was conducted.
2.  Secretary’s Report was read and approved.
3.  Treasurer’s Report was read and approved with $1039.78 in account.
4. Committee Reports:
     a. Membership Report:  Member total as of March is a 24 members, with 6 new members joining in the months of February and March.
     b. Festival Report: It was decided to have only one tent for the Crawfish Festival. It was discussed to have several raffle items donated by the members. Set up instructions for the festivals have been documented for members to use during festivals. The decision was made to have the guild posters mounted.  
     c. Website Committee: Members raised concerns about the website and its completion.
5.  A work day with the local Boy Scouts of America is still in progress.

 

New Business:
1. Fund raisers and a “wish list” for items the guild needs was suggested in order for the guild to work more smoothly at festivals and other events.

2.  John McGee asked members for items to donate for a raffle concerning the renovation of the Woodbine Opry and will continue to gather information.

3. A complaint was made about the Woodturning meetings not being hands-on and a possible solution was made to have a Saturday meeting for the hands-on portion.
 (Meeting adjourned at 1:55pm by Mike Hanna).

Upcoming Events/Guild Meetings:
1. Turner’s Meeting:  1st Tuesday each month (April 6th) at 7:30pm at Mike Rietveld’s shop.
 2. Business Meeting: 2nd Tuesday each month (April 13th) at 7:30pm at Mike Rietveld’s Shop
3. General Woodworker’s Meeting:  (April 18th) Saturday after monthly Tuesday Business Meeting, at 2:00pm at Mike Hanna’s shop.
3.  Crawfish Festival—Friday and Saturday -.April 24th and 25th, Woodbine.
