S.E. GA. WOODWORKERS’ GUILD March 13th, 2007 —Meeting Minutes
Our regular General Membership monthly business meeting was held at the home of Curt Johnson at 7:30pm . Russell Christmas, President, opened the meeting at 7:43p.m. Attendees (Russell Christmas, Mike Rietveld, Roy Millsaps, John Herald, Curt Johnson, Mike Hanna, Judy Kuhl and Allen Kuhl). Officers: Russell Christmas—President, John Herald—Vice-President, Allen Kuhl —Secretary/Treasurer Opening/ Old Business: 1. Raffle/Festival Committee and VP report: The next Festival is the Crawfish Festival in Woodbine, Georgia on Friday and Saturday, April 27 th and 28 th. Application and payment has been submitted by John Herald for this festival. John has heard back from the Festival Committee requesting pictures of items we will sell. John submitted several pictures and where approved for entry in the festival. John Herald has made up a schedule for the festival for members to sign up for booth manning and demonstrations and to assign responsibility for the festival. The schedule will be emailed out to all members by Curt Johnson for members to signup. We need four members to help set up and take down. We need two members to man the booth and one member to demonstrate their craft each hour. Tom will provide a vase for the raffle. The Guild voted and passed Tom providing a vase. Russell reported that he will get our permit to hold the raffle. 2. Turners’ meeting report: Mike Rietveld reported there has been good turnout for meetings and hands-on work projects are on-going. Beginning with the new year we will again be offering beginning techniques instruction. (For any new members who attend our meetings, we will provide instruction and safety precautions commensurate with their abilities). 3. Website: Curt Johnson reported that our Guild website is in links of other websites. 4. Roy Millsaps and Russell Christmas provided a list of classes they will be conducted along with dates/times. The master schedule will be placed on the Guild’s Website. 5. “Christmas” projects were discussed for the children’s toys as gifts program by Rory Millsaps. We plan on conducting five sessions to make toys for this year. The first session will be April 21st to make boxes. The work day will be four hours. 6. Camden House reported back that they would like Cabinets made by the Guild. Russell Christmas and Mike Hanna came up with the plans. The guild voted to make the cabinets. Once the material is ordered and provided by Camden House, the Guild will set up dates to build the cabinets. New Business: 1. Curt Johnson will check with local business to provide discounts to Guild Members and report back to the Guild. 2. The By-Laws on Roy ’s computer is gone due to a crash of the system. Russell will present a proposed new set of By‑laws to paid members for members to review, make comment, and later vote to adopted. 3. The Guild also discussed renting a mail box at Mail n More or UPS so the Guild would have permanent address. Russell Christmas will check on the cost and report back at the next meeting to vote on the proposal. A vote was taken and passed for Russell to check out the cost of a mail box. Show and Tell:
