S.E. GA. WOODWORKERS’ GUILD
Our regular General Membership monthly business meeting was held at the shop of Mike Rietveld at 7:30pm. Russell Christmas, President, opened the meeting at 7:35pm. 11 persons attending (Russell Christmas, Allen Kuhl, Judy Kuhl, Mike Rietveld, Roy Millsaps, John Herald, Mike Hanna, Curt Johnson, Tom Trahan, Chuck Molnar, and Greg Norris).
Officers: Russell Christmas—President, John Herald—Vice-President, Allen Kuhl—Secretary/Treasurer
Opening/ Old Business: 1. The “Pledge of Allegiance” was conducted. 2. Secretary’s Report was read and approved. 3. Treasurer’s Report was read and approved, with $563.40 in account. 4. Committee Reports: a. Membership report: 2 new members joining at this meeting (Chuck Molnar, and Greg Norris). Sponsors: Roy Millsaps for Greg Norris; John Herald for Chuck Molnar. b. Festivals/Raffle report: Our 4th of July Festival in St. Marys went very well. We received $44.00 in raffle sales. The raffle winner (pen & pencil set) was John Waller. Our next Festival is Labor Day (beginning of September). It is a 3-day event. Guild Flyers are being updated by Mike Hanna. Russell Christmas is working on the Raffle item. 5. Turner’s Report: Mike Rietveld reported that several members had come out and did special turnings. Pat Clark, Sandra Meyer, and Greg Norris each had projects they worked on. 6. Meetings/Classes for Guild: quarterly work meetings are scheduled for General Membership, and for Christmas (project work). Our last weekend’s (July 7) workday/luncheon resulted in 4 Bird Feeders built for our project donation to the St. Marys Nursing Home.. a. Mike Hanna has previously set up and conducted classes in “Cabinetry”, and his schedule can be seen at his website: mthwoodwork.com. b. Pat Clark has upcoming classes on Aug 22 & 29 for “Band Saw Boxes”. c. Roy Millsaps has a schedule of classes and events, also can be seen on the Guild website: SEGAwoodguild.org d. 7. Dues: Beginning in August 2007, our dues will be $35.00 per year per family, covering the period from August thru July each year (pro-rated for new members joining in mid-year), and have been incorporated into the By-Laws.
8. Accreditation through AAW: We have been officially approved as an organization by AAW. Our By-Laws have been approved by our members, and the official signing of our Charter Members is in process. New Business: 1. Elections: The nominations presented were: President—Russell Christmas to continue. Vice-President—John Herald to continue. Secretary/Treasurer—Allen Kuhl to continue. With no other accepted nominations, a vote was conducted by show-of-hands to accept the officers as outlined above.
2. Library: Russell Christmas showed some books he had received (“Resource Directory”) from the American Association of WoodTurners (AAW). Suggestion by Mike Rietveld to keep the books pertaining to AAW at his shop. Agreed to by membership present.
3. a) Curt Johnson presented some e-mails sent to the Guild website, which he discussed for responses to be sent out. More discussion in future meetings. b) Curt Johnson discussed the Guild Website and how the setup could be improved, with requirements for the “Member’s Only” section.
(Russell Christmas adjourned the business meeting at 8:20pm).
Show & Tell: 1. Allen & Judy Kuhl: Cutting Boards (completed through classes by Russell). 2. Tom Trahan: Specialty bowl. 3. John Herald: Bird Feeders to be donated.

Next GUILD meetings: 1) Turner’s Meeting—Wednesday, Aug 1st at Mike Rietveld’s shop at 7:30pm. 3) Guild general business meeting--Tuesday, Aug 7th, at 7:30pm at Mike Rietveld’s shop.
